Golden is known for being a robust center for science and industry and home to the oldest public university in the state, the Colorado School of Mines. Situated in between Lookout Mountain and the two Table Mountains, Golden is in a covered valley fed by Clear Creek. Nearby communities include West Pleasant View, Genesee, Idledale, Morrison, and the city of Lakewood.

It's about 15 miles or a 26-minute drive from Golden, CO, to Denver, CO, and 20 miles or a 33-minute drive from Golden to Boulder.

Golden Population & Demographics

The Golden CO population is 20,460, according to the 2020 census. It has a sparse, suburban feel, and the population density is 2,117.4 residents per square mile. The growth of the area has stayed fairly consistent, and the Golden population has increased by 8.1% since 2010.
