Dear valued clients,
Our business is continuing to operate as we navigate the current COVID-19 situation, and we are adapting our operations by practicing social distancing, and reiterating the practices of good hygiene, like frequent hand washing, providing hand sanitizer and gloves for the moving crews. We are also offering virtual onsites for current/ future clients during the current situation. We will do our best to keep our current clientele informed of any changes to current/ future moves.

As our client, your safety and health is our #1 priority during this state of emergency. Please consider the following guidelines to prepare for your move with us:

⚠ADVICE FOR CLIENTS REGARDING SETTING UP CONDITIONS FOR A MOVE: • Upon our arrival, please have your residence/ office/ items as ready as possible (cleaned/ sanitized and ventilated in advance) for the removal of your items. • It is recommended that you/ your representatives will keep, at a minimum, 6 feet of distance from our crew. Our crew members will keep, at a minimum, 6 feet of distance or more at the time of service. • You will assure continuous ventilation of the spaces we work in at all times. • Please provide dedicated bathroom(s), equipped with soap and paper towels for our crew members.

⚠LIMITATION OF LIABILITIES OF MOVING COMPANIES AND THEIR RIGHT TO CANCEL WORK (NATIONAL LOCAL MOVES): The Government has stated it is or will be implementing (as yet) measures to combat the spread of the virus. Such measures in place might impact our ability to provide services to you (including but not limited for us having to suspend or cancel in full the services) or the virus otherwise affects our ability to fulfill your relocation. This may place us in a position where we will not be able to accept any ability for any losses that may arise and we limit our liability accordingly. We are keeping the matter under careful review and will ensure that all customers are advised of any developments that may affect fulfillment of contracted services.

As our team at Homegrown Moving Company has been following updates, we are choosing to work with & adhere to the guidelines set forth by health officials and authorities. We want to do our part in mitigating the impact and spread of COVID-19 to the businesses and communities we serve, and we are implementing the following strategies to do so:

We have discussed with our team members what to do in the scenario that anyone is experiencing symptoms or may have been exposed to the virus. We have an understanding among ourselves to be transparent if somebody's not feeling good or may have been exposed. We understand the need to self quarantine for the proper amount of time, if this occurs, to avoid any further spread. In turn, we ask the same from our customers. In the event that you are feeling sick or may have been exposed, we are happy to make arrangements for another move date.

Use of examination gloves: Our teams will wear examination gloves while servicing moves as an additional hygiene measure and self protection. Gloves will be discarded after each move.

Due to the high demand of masks, we are unable to provide them at the moment, but if you would like masks to be provided for your move, please provide them and we can use them.

Our team will also have hand sanitizer, and we ask that they are allowed to use a sink or water source to wash their hands when available. Social distancing: Upon arrival to our customers' homes or offices, team members will follow the protocol of social distancing, allowing 6' between team members and you, our customer. We have always valued the professionalism and respect that accompany an introductory handshake, however during the COVID-19 outbreak, we ask that our customers understand for safety purposes that we will refrain from shaking hands or making physical contact.

Proper ventilation: In move settings when available, we request that our customers open outside doors and/or windows to increase air circulation. All of the above will be effective immediately and remain in place until April 20th, until we can reassess the situation and make further announcements. We strive to continue to practice CDC/ Federal / State/ WHO (World Health Organization) guidelines for health and safety to prevent contagion in our community.

Thank you, Homegrown Moving

Other than that, you will need to do a lot of small tasks before you are ready to move out. This article will point out the most important ones that you need to consider.

Hire a professional moving company

First and foremost, hiring a company like Homegrown Moving and Storage Company Colorado is one of the best things that you can do for yourself. The fact of the matter is that relocations are a lot of work. Loading the items into the moving truck, then transporting them to their destination, and then unloading them again is serious work. Obviously, you can do it on your own but it requires a lot of knowledge as well as physical and mental effort. That is too much for most people, and for good reasons. You will have your hands full even without the things that professional movers will do for you.

There are a lot of moving services available, however. You can make your move as easy as you want if you opt for some of these, such as packing services. But to tell you the truth, you will want to do the packing on your own, most of the time. But for everything else that concerns moving, you can be sure that there is a service for everything. It is your call how many or how few services to hire.

Start with preparations for a summer interstate move in advance

The most important thing for any relocation, winter or summer, is to act as soon as you know about it. You will need to do so much before you can relocate without any worries and for that, you will need a lot of time. That is why your summer interstate move preparations need to begin as soon as possible. There will be a lot of things to consider, from the clothes that you will be wearing on a moving day, to transferring your utilities, negotiating with your movers, and so on. You really don’t want to be without air conditioning in your new home in the hottest time of the year.

The first thing to do is to figure out what exactly is it that you need to do. Start writing down what you need to do and you will soon have a moving checklist created. This document, or a file, will be of immense help when it comes to organizing the entire thing. Simply write down each task, no matter how big or small. You will need to accomplish them all, anyway. If you think some tasks are trivial or not worth noting down, that is fine but don’t make a habit out of it. Oftentimes, the things that you forget to do are the ones that are most trivial.

Organize your time and create a checklist as soon as possible.

So trivial, in fact, that in your mind you might have already completed them while the reality says otherwise. It is actually quite common for that to happen. That is why it is best to write everything down and simply cross it over once it is complete.

Gather moving boxes and packing supplies on time

You will also need packing supplies and moving boxes for your relocation. The best way to acquire these items also takes some time. Obviously, you can simply go to the store and purchase everything that you need, be it a box or a packing item. However, if you want to play it smart and save some money in the process, you can get these items on the cheap and possibly even free! You see, there are convenience and retail stores all around you that receive these boxes on a regular basis. They usually do not really need them and will be happy to give them to you for a pittance of even free. You should have the most success in the stores that you frequent often.

When it comes to the packing supplies, you can search for people who have moved recently and ask them if they want to sell you what they have leftover. Most times, people have plenty of packing supplies left after their relocation, which is simply taking space in their homes. This is an opportunity that you can take advantage of! However, finding such people might take time which is why it is best if you start looking for them straight away. Get some “feelers” out, spread the word, and see what turns up.

Stay safe during a summer interstate move!

There is also your own protection to consider. Summer relocations can get really tiring, really fast. You will be doing a lot of work around the house so make sure that the air conditioning is on. However, don’t create too large of a temperature difference between inside and outside. The best time to schedule the move is early in the morning, due to lower temperatures. If you can help it, never move between 11 am and 4 pm.

It is also really important to stay properly hydrated. All that effort and stress, combined with the summer heat will take quite a bit of a toll on your body. Water is the answer. The life-giving fluid will keep you fresh and hydrated. Of course, you can use other drinks as well. Just make sure that they actually hydrate.

And, of course, do not forget to apply plenty of sunscreen before your trip. In all the commotion, this is really easy to forget.
